Port Ellen Maltings Islay Case Study
The requirement was for a major upgrade to the existing control and monitoring system at Port Ellen Maltings
This included automation of the plant processes from Barley Intake to Malt Despatch. Including Steeping, Germination, Kilning and Storage.
The complete system was designed, installed and commissioned by Au Automation.
Our customer asked us to provide a SCADA/PLC/AS-i I/O network solution. The final product included a Wonderware In-Touch ‘top end’. Three Schneider Premium PLC’s with twelve Schneider AS-i Gateways connected the IO network for each of the three plant process areas:
· Steeping
· Germination
· Kilning
Over 300 IFM AS-i I/O slave modules are distributed around the site to provide the sensor, actuator interface with the plant and equipment.
